Pretty Little Liars
I recently, started the book series titled Pretty Little Liars. I love this series and was excited to see that it is now a TV show.
This book is about five best friends that did everything together. All their personalities were different which made it hard for them in the beginning to get along. The head of their “group” was Alison; all the other girls looked up to her. She was the girl that everybody knew. Next, was Spencer Hastings, she was the smartest of the group. She was always winning prizes for her well written essays. Her parents always pushed her to do her very best. Hannah was the girl that was always picked on. Alison always tormented Hannah for being overweight which drove Hannah to lose a ton of weight. Hannah never felt like she was good enough for Alison because she was also seeking her approval. However, Aria was the total opposite, she was outgoing and didn’t let anyone bring her down. She didn’t care what Alison thought because she had all the confidence in the world. Last, but not least, was Emily; she was the misfit of the group. She was still discovering herself and didn’t know what she liked or disliked. These five friends shared all their deepest secrets and were the typical best friend posse.
One night, all five girls had a sleepover, this was completely normal for them. They practically lived at each other’s houses but this night was different from all the rest. Alison decided to leave the sleepover and visit her boyfriend when all her friends fell asleep. The next morning the girls woke up and Alison was missing. They didn’t think it was a big deal until they all got a phone call from Alison’s parents asking if they knew where she was. A year later, Alison was still missing and still no word about her whereabouts. The other four girls drifted apart because Alison was the only reason they were all so close.
A year after Alison’s disappearance her family decided it was time to move on and give up hope of finding her. When a new family moved into their house they found what appeared to be bones in the backyard. They called the police and the police made the astonishing discovery that the bones were actually Alison’s remains. They announced that she had been murdered and then buried under the stones in her backyard. As the neighborhood heard the news the four best friends reunited to try and make sense of why Alison had been murdered. As they tried to figure out the mystery they had some hope that she was still alive when they all received a message from “A”.
I was shocked to find that the main character was killed! I had no idea that anybody disliked her or wanted her dead. I didn’t expect this at all!
The author’s intent was to give you a mystery that you are constantly trying to figure out. The organization pattern used in this book was chronological sequencing because the author described everyday leading up to Alison’s death.
